Volunteer
We rely heavily on many dedicated volunteers.
Every year, our therapeutic riding sessions require around 1,700 volunteer hours to stay operational. If you would like to volunteer with our organization please contact us - we look forward to hearing from you.

Therapeutic session support
Volunteers are a critical part of our ability to provide therapeutic services to clients. Duties include providing physical, emotional, and mental support. This can vary from direct contact with the clients to horse management (handling, grooming, leading, etc.). Must have physical strength and stamina to help support the rider during the lessons.
Horse Maintenance
Horse management is required both during and outside of the therapeutic sessions. Therapeutic sessions require volunteers to ensure that the horses are being managed according to the requirements of the instructors. This would include fetching the horses needed for each session, grooming, leading, etc.
Apart from the therapeutic sessions, horses have to be exercised, handled during vet/farrier visits, etc.
Farm Duties
LTRA has many requirements in its ongoing functions that are not directly related to therapeutic sessions. This includes but is not limited to:
Field management
Fence & pen maintenance
Building, yard, and equipment maintenance
Equipment operation: skid steer, tractor manure spreader, and field sprayer
Bingo
AGLC-related activities provide essential funding support for our programs. We participate in a monthly bingo event at Winner's Bingo, and the Lethbridge Casino on the occasions our turn comes around (generally every three to four years). Volunteering for the Bingo events is greatly appreciated - experience is not necessary.
Governance
This includes participating on the Board of Directors and various committees that are an important part of a non-profit organization like LTRA.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are needed year-round to assist the maintenance on the farm and to help with fundraising activities.
House Keeping
There is an ongoing need for keeping the program, horse, office, and grounds areas clean and maintained. This would include:
Maintaining the cleanliness of the arena viewing room, mezzanine and arena apron
Cleaning horse-use areas
Sweeping, dusting, mopping and cleaning office and admin facilities
