Haul-ins
What are the arena rules?
The arena rules are proper and necessary decorum to allow all users to enjoy the time they are working with their horses. Please review these arena use rules, and contact us if you have any questions or suggestions. Everyone benefits from a drama-free facility.
- Use the south door coming onto the concrete
- Horses' feet must be cleaned on the concrete before going into the arena -- please sweep up the mess when you have finished cleaning the feet, not after you are done riding
- Clean up your manure immediately
- All debris must be put in the wheelbarrow
- All doors except the south doors are crash doors -- they are emergency exits that must remain locked from the outside and free from blockage
- The ramp is not to be used by anyone not immediately involved in the therapeutic program
- All equipment is to be kept in the breezeway -- everyone is able to use the available equipment, but it must be stored immediately after use
- Share the arena, standard arena rules apply
- When lessons are being held please ensure all equipment and horses are completely clear of the arena at least 15 minutes before its next schedule use
- Arena times are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The facility is closed after 10:30 p.m.
- Please tie your horses to the south section of the arena railing -- the footing for the railing with the double bars has been set deeper into the base
What is the dog policy?
We must ensure that our clients and boarders are protected and that horses are not spooked while a client or boarder is riding. Therefore, all dogs must be contained during the entire time they are on LTRA property:
- The dog is to be under the owner's control at all times, either directly on a leash, contained in a portable kennel, etc.
- An E-collar is not considered a suitable restraint measure
- The owner of the dog is to clean up after the dog at all times
- Dogs are not to be in the arena
- Should a dog create a problem that jeopardizes the well-being of any horse or rider the owner will be asked to remove the dog from LTRA property
- Owners will be responsible for any damages resulting from the misbehaviour of their dog
Is there an exception to the dog policy for service dogs?
LTRA visitors that require service dogs have the right to access LTRA in the manner in which their service dogs provide assistance. However, dogs and horses can still pose serious situations. The following rules apply to service dogs:
- A service dog is permitted to work in its assistance capacity when the handler requires it
- When a service dog is no longer functioning in its assistance capacity it must be treated in the same manner as required by the regular dog polices
What are the fees to haul in a horse?
Please refer to the Arena Rental, more specifically the haul-in fees can be found here. We require our facility renters to sign a rental contract and to follow our rules and regulations.
